Taman Ratu ( Malay Rice) Saturday, August 25, 2007
This is one of the top spots for local Malay rice. During lunch hour, this place is absolutely packed with people of all races. Reason – delicious food at extremely reasonable prices, much lower than what you get in town. My favourite dishes are the curry sotong (cuttlefish), deep fried chicken (crunchy skin and succulent meat), kacang bottle (four angle bean) salad and of course the salted egg. Also when you have the time, a must try item is the fried ikan terubok with stuffed chilli paste. This fish is really delicious, but it has plenty of fine bones. Patience is rewarded as the meat is very fine and sweet tasting.

Northam Beach Cafe (Keropok Terengganu) Tuesday, January 02, 2007
Fancy some crunchy keropok (fish crackers). The keropok here is excellent. They are finely sliced, freshly fried upon your order and the keropok practically melts in your mouth. They taste even better when dipped into the sweet chilli sauce that comes with your order. This stall also serves oh chien (fried oysters) but I only give an average rating for it. Passable but not the best around.

Genting Coffee Shop (Pasembor) Tuesday, January 02, 2007
Pasembor is a mixture of boiled potato, taukua (bean curd), boiled egg, flour fritters, prawn fritter, sprinkled with finely shaved cucumber and bangkuang (turnip). A thick sweet and sour sauce is poured over the whole mixture. The Pasembor here is very popular and many "tar pau" (takeaway).

Transfer Road (Roti Canai) Sunday, December 24, 2006
This place makes the perfect Roti Canai (pan fried "bread") - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. You cannot get them any hotter or fresher, the Roti Canai are only prepared as you order! To accompany the Roti Canai, you can have vegetarian dhall curry, chicken curry or lamb curry. Have tried them all and they are delicious!
